| DO's |
- Your
pressure cooker works on steam pressure
generated by heating water. Hence the pressure
cooker should be filled with adequate quantity
of water. (About two cup full for every
ten minutes cooking) Improper use may result
in scalding injury.
- Ensure
that the safety valve is in place and is
securely tightened.
- Ensure
that the gasket is in place.
- Ensure
that vent tube is not blocked. This can
be checked easily by seeing through the
vent tube. Blocked vent tube results in
developing more than required pressure and
makes the safety valve blow. Clean the vent
tube with a wire if it is blocked.
- While
placing the lid on cooker body, ensure that
the pressure cooker is properly closed.
No steam should escape from border of lid.
Leaking of steam from the pressure cooker
will not only result in delay in cooking,
but also will need extra fuel.
- Ensure,
both handles are securely tightened before
each use.
- The
weight/whistle should be put on steam vent
tube only after steam starts coming out
of the vent tube of the cooker freely. This
is specifically recommended as it is a test
for confirming that vent tube is not blocked.
- Avoid
damage to the sealing rim edges of both
the lid and the body while washing and cooking.
- Always
store the pressure cooker dry and with its
lid open to avoid fungus formation.
- Dry
the pressure cooker after every wash.
- Use
stoves, electric hot plate, gas or kerosene
as fuel. Also cooking can be done on wood
fire provided the cooker does not come directly
in contact with hot cinders.
- The
pressure cooker should be handled with extra
care while moving it if you are cooking
a liquid recipe in it.
- After
continuous use the inside bottom of pressure
cooker may develop a dark colouration which
is due to chemicals in food and water. This
colouration is totally harmless and can
be removed with tartaric acid, fresh lime
juice or tamarind.
- Keep
children away when the pressure cooker is
in use.
- Buy
only genuine Nirlep spare parts in case
of need for replacement.
- The
weight on the vent tube holds itself to
the vent tube when steam excapes. In case
the weight comes off with the steam.
